Steps to take after suffering an injury in an Uber

Similarly to any other state, Georgia is home to numerous car accidents every year. However, Georgia has the distinction of having the deadliest roadway in the United States. I-285 is home to more roadway fatalities than any other interstate in the country.

You should know what to do following a collision in your own car if it ever happens. These days, many people are using Uber and Lyft to get around. Ask yourself: Do you know what to do if your Uber driver ends up in an accident?

Contact police and ambulance

It is important to see a medical professional after an accident whether you are the driver or a passenger. You want to keep a record of any injuries you sustain in case the incident goes to court. It is also a good idea to get the police to the scene. Your Uber driver or the other party may not want to get law enforcement involved, but a police report holds up in court better than a random person's testimony.

You also want to contact the ride-sharing app whether it is Uber, Lyft or something else. On Uber's Help page, the company explicitly states to contact them after a collision.

Take photos of the accident

If you used Uber, then you should have a smartphone on your person. You want to take pictures of both vehicles to document the damage. It is also a good idea to take pictures of the surrounding area. Perhaps a traffic sign sustained damaged that was indirectly responsible for the accident damage.

Talk to the other driver

There may be a lot of heated emotions following a car accident. However, it is important to maintain a level head and speak with the other driver and passengers. You want to get their names, phone numbers and insurance information. This will help immensely if you end up needing an attorney to take your case.
